Johnsee

JohnseeI'm a 19 year old Churchie Old Boy from the class of 2006. Throughout my time at school I participated in many sports to keep a healthy body and mind. It was through these sports that developed myself as a person, not through the physical activity, but through the mateship and camaraderie between the athletes in these disciplines. In senior year, I had an interest in doing Track and Field however thought such a goal was unreachable. After many discussions with Monty, he persuaded me that anything was possible if you put heart into it. It was from this belief that drove me to reach the team and compete in what I thought was unreachable.

When Monty was diagnosed with leukemia, it came as a great shock as someone being healthy and active, you think he would be the last to be effected. Over the following months, watching Monty through highs and lows was a very emotional yet inspirational journey. However, with the knowledge of Monty’s “anything is possible” attitude, courage was something he had limitless amounts of.

Being unable to run alongside Monty in year 12 at the track and field championships, being given this opportunity to run alongside once more is a privilege and an honor.
