I'm a 19 year old Churchie old boy of the 06' year. Through school I participated in cross country with Monty along with other sports. It is in a sport such as cross country that true character can really come out as it as mentally tough as it is physically. When being a part of a cross country team and you are able to feed of everyone else's strength and grow closer as a team. After becoming good friends with Monty it came as a massive shock when he was diagnosed with leukemia.
Seeing your healthy, fit 17 year old mate get diagnosed with cancer and watching him through his fight against leukemia is a very eye opening experience. For over two years Monty has been suffering and recovering from his battle, being there to see him at the lowest point of his battle was very inspirational. As I learnt by running in a team with him and watching him fight for his life against cancer, Monty has the will power and courage to beat anything he comes up against in life. Being able to help Monty by running in event such as this comes without hesitation and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.
